The G(irls)20 Summit “Leadership in Action” Hangout Series Launch

Giving young girls and women opportunity to engage with global industry leaders

September 12 2013 – The G(irls)20 Summit and Google are proud to announce the launch of the G(irls)20 Summit “Leadership in Action” Hangout Series, bringing together young women from around the world and top industry leaders to share their advice, wisdom and insights.

Kicking off the series on October 31st at 11am EST/8am PST will be Megan Smith, entrepreneur and Vice-President at Google[x], Google’s “secret lab” of inventors and engineers that applies audacious thinking and technology to big problems in order to change the world in a really positive way. Megan Smith recently co-created Solve for X and Women Techmakers.

Following Ms. Smith, each month the G(irls)20 Summit will host another featured speaker to connect with a live, global audience streaming on the G(irls)20 Summit Google Community Page using Google Hangout. Young women from across G20 nations will engage featured speakers in a Q&A and participate in a global conversation on Twitter, Facebook and Google+.

“Knowledge is power. By engaging young women with industry leaders, we are creating an opportunity for them to hear advice directly from people who are highly successful in their chosen fields. This is a game changer,” said Farah Mohamed, President and CEO of the G(irls)20 Summit.

“I’m thrilled to help launch this hangout series which interconnects talent from across the globe, and look forward to hearing from young women,” said Megan Smith. “These young leaders will make discoveries and create solutions in so many arenas where we urgently need fresh breakthrough thinking. I hope our conversations tap into their passions and encourage everyone who participates to be an innovative force for positive change.”

Through access to industry leaders, young women around the world are being equipped with tools to make changes within their own communities. This Series was created to educate and inspire women by connecting and engaging top leaders with the future leaders of tomorrow.
