Tanya van Biesen is a member of Spencer Stuart’s global Financial Services Practice and co-leads the firm’s efforts in the financial services industry in Canada. In this role, she conducts a broad range of search assignments at the board, EO and general management levels, as well as across a variety of disciplines, including finance, portfolio management, business development, client services, marketing, human resources and operations. Tanya’s clients span the financial services spectrum, from banks and insurance companies to investment management firms, pension funds and stock exchanges.

In addition to her role in the Financial Services Practice, Tanya leads Spencer Stuart Canada’s Diversity Practice which specializes not only in the placement of Chief Diversity Officers, but also in promoting the development and presentation of diverse slates of candidates across all search assignments. She is also responsible for professional development across Spencer Stuart’s three Canadian offices, ensuring that all professionals and support staff receive and have access to the firm’s training resources.

Tanya began her career at Procter & Gamble. Working in both Toronto and Calgary, she held positions of increasing responsibility in sales management, culminating in a national role in which she was responsible for several key product categories with some of the company’s largest retail customers.

Tanya holds a M.B.A. from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, a bachelor of commerce degree from Queen’s University, and she has completed the Canadian Securities Course. She speaks English, French and Dutch.
