Marie Chantale J. Lépine
She is a lawyer and the former Vice President, Public Affairs, Emerging Markets of Pfizer Inc., the world’s largest biopharmaceutical company, based in New York City.
In her role, Marie Chantale created Pfizer’s first Emerging Markets Public Affairs (EMPA) Group, comprised of more than 70 teams in Asia, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East. As part of her group’s mandate, Marie Chantale and her team led all product and policy negotiations with governments, communications, and strategic alliances development for Pfizer’s more than $9 billion dollar Emerging Markets Business Unit. Under her leadership, the EMPA Group built talented local teams, with a focus on China, India, Brazil Russia, Turkey and Mexico, leveraged its acute knowledge of the complex market dynamics in the emerging markets to build winning partnerships with governments and key stakeholders, and achieved successful business results for Pfizer.
Marie Chantale also has broad Canadian biopharmaceutical policy and market access experience. Before joining Pfizer, she held national leadership roles at AstraZeneca
Prior to that, she was Director of Communications, Tour and Media to former Prime Minister of Canada, the Right Honourable Joe Clark, P.C., Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada.Canada. She also served as Vice-Chair, Intellectual Property Committee, of Canada’s national biopharmaceutical association, Rx&D and Vice-Chair, Canada Committee, of the American national biopharmaceutical association, PhRMA.
Marie Chantale was called to the Bar in 1994, beginning her career at Beaudry, Bertrand, Barristers and Solicitors in the nation’s capital, where she specialized in commercial litigation.
She is a former member of the Board of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Foundation, she climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise funds for liver cancer.
Marie Chantale holds a Law Degree (LL. L.), a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (B. Adm.) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, specialized in Marketing and International Business (B. Com.) from the University of Ottawa.
