WHY INVEST IN GIRLS?

There are more than 1.5 billion young people in the world today, making up the largest youth generation in history. Half of them are girls and young women. They are our future leaders!

Investing in girls & women is proving to increase productivity for employers, yielding benefits for the community and society.

When women and girls earn income, they reinvest 90 percent of it into their families.

Closing the joblessness gap between girls and their male counterparts would yield an increase in GDP of up to 1.2 per cent in a single year.

Giving women the same access to non-land resources and services as men reduce the number of hungry people in the world by 100-150 million.

Of 163 million illiterate youth in the world, more than half—63 percent—are female. (UNFPA)

Around the world, 250 million adolescent girls live in poverty. (Girl Effect)

When 10 percent more girls go to school, a country’s GDP increases on average by 3 percent. (Council on Foreign Relations)
