Aishani is a second year student from New Delhi majoring in Economics at Soka University of America in California. Throughout high school in India, Aishani was heavily involved in community development projects that focused on education and the empowerment of women and continually tutored under-privileged children in the neighborhood. She speaks Hindi, English, Punjabi and intermediate Japanese.

During her tenure as the program assistant at Smile Foundation in India, she worked with young girls and women in urban slums of New Delhi where she conducted focused group discussions and facilitated workshops on family planning and sexual health care. Presently, she interns as a grant writer assistant at International Orphan Care, a US-based NGO that works towards educating the youth, especially girls, in Afghanistan. Aishani actively participates in numerous UN conferences and panel discussions on education, health, childcare and women’s rights.

Aishani believes that you should never doubt your potential to create change. One of her goals upon graduation is to open an organization that encourages young girls to be entrepreneurs and change makers in their local communities.

Aishani’s aim is to elevate the status of women and constructing an egalitarian society.
