Delegate Initiatives

Delegates & Ambassadors continue to work together using the tools they developed from the G(irls)20 Summit workshops they participated in.

 

Alberta Pelino
Italy, 2011 Delegate

Alberta founded the the “Young Ambassadors Society”, a youth association in charge of recruiting and training the Italian delegation of youth parallel events of the G8/G20 Summits. The association aims to promote dialogue and collaboration among young people, cross-cultural understanding, build global friendships, give voice to young people in politics and international issues and bridge the gap between young people and institutions.

More recently, Alberta has been chosen from by the Italian brand Maggie for their ‘Women that will Save the World’ campaign.

Ekaterina Mordvinova
Russia, 2011 Delegate

Ekaterina organized the Samara, Russia’s first Women Leadership Forum, gathering 30 ambitious young women from different universities from within the city. Workshops and training sessions are led by the experienced women-leaders from such organizations as Heinrich Boell Foundation, Committee 20, Women Organization of Samara Region and Samara Youth Unit.

Ekaterina continues to work towards leading a young-women-led organization in Samara and leading projects to benefit her community.


Lilian Kithiri
African Union, 2011 Delegate

Lilian is creating awareness on reproductive health to communities living in the rural areas of Kenya with the main target being girls and women. She has lined up an exceptional programme of activities through which this can be implemented and carried out two awereness sessions in my current community. Lilian is currently seeking out funding to continue her work.


Riana Shah
India, 2011 Delegate

Riana co-founded Independent Thought & Social Action in India (ITSA India), an education reform organization that creates socially responsible youth leaders through critical thinking and social action. They run workshops based on gender and identity and encourage students to start a social action project related to helping women and girls in their community.

Riana has also spearheaded a mentorship program for students who start their own social action projects, and has more recently opened the ITSA International Internship Program to the girls who have been part of the G(irls) 20 Summit.

Chloe Yin Yin Lo
China, Delegate 2011

Chloe has recently been named the United Nations UNESCO Youth Peace Ambassador in Training. Since the G(irls)20 Summit, she has attended and spoken at numerous world conferences and summits. Chloe is now planning with UNESCO Bangkok and UNITAR Hiroshima to bring United Nations events to Taiwan.


Kartika Nurhayati
Indonesia, 2010 Delegate

Kartika founded the Forum Silaturahmi Remaja or Youth Faternity Forum (FORSIJA) which runs a BookMob, a mobile library and art gallery for the residence of impoverished neighbourhoods in Depok, a suburb outside of Jakarta, Indonesia.

Irem Tumer
Turkey, 2010 Delegate

Irem and her friends are organizing a Girls Summit in turkey in April 2011 in hopes to empower girls and women in Turkey.

Anna Malinovskaya
Russia, 2010 Delegate

Anna has partnered with Katerina Mordvinova, Russia’s 2011 G(irls)20 Summit delegate to establish an NGO in Russia which will operate a mentorship program for young women.

Anna is working on a website called Resources for Students Interested in International Development, and on a weekly columnist for the Voice for Human Rights.

She also works as an intern with the Voice of America Student Union, producing monthly articles with advice on education in the United States for international students.

July Lee
USA, 2010 Delegate

July founded Project Write with a Smile and aims to empower youth in the US by taking global action in the local level. Her first term was spent in South Africa, where she recruited US sponsors to help empower teens in South Africa to continue with their education.

July is focusing on the orphaned children in Mexico. The objective of the project is to pair U.S. pen pals with the Mexican children to serve as their mentors and to raise funds to help support their orphanages.

Tanvi Girota
India, 2010 Delegate

Tanvi founded Becoming I Foundation which aims to create a platform for young people to be the change they want to see in the world. Through multifarious projects in the fields of education, women empowerment, life skills development, conflict resolution, human rights, substance abuse, peacebuilding and aims to hone the leadership potential of youth.


Leah Stuwart-Sheppard
Canada, 2010 Delegate

Leah is working with local government to help effectively re-write grade 10 civics curriculum to include more engagement and empowering lesson plans. Her goal is to make youth more aware of issues in the world today, while giving them the tools they require to act.


Nanami Tachikawa
Japan, 2010 Delegate
